We all know that the way we work has changed a lot in the past few years, and it’s time for the language we use to catch up.
That’s why we developed a new approach, grounded in the latest Career Development theories including the Systems Theory Framework and Career Construction Theory. As Career Counsellors, we know how important it is to start the conversation well, and this is where the Clusters come in. You can ask them to take the quick and easy quiz before your first session or as part of your client onboarding experience, giving you a starting place for a rich conversation.
The Clusters have been designed to help individuals build a career narrative, without being prescriptive, telling them ‘who’ they are, or giving them a granular list of jobs. Instead, we simply reflect back the information they gave to us and show them which Clusters may be a good fit. This gives you another piece of information to bring to the table, and a place to start your conversations.
It's an easy-to-understand language
Job titles, industries, types of work… they’re all things that can be daunting for job seekers. Especially if they have no experience in these fields.
But when they know their Career Clusters, the world suddenly takes on a whole new view – because they can see their place in it.
The quiz is quick, easy, and painless
There are just 30 questions, and most people take between two and five minutes to complete the quiz. In fact, we find that they often start thinking about their strengths and preferences while answering the questions, which can set the tone for a strengths-based conversation.
Afterwards, clients are directed back to you for their results, which you’ll receive via email. You can choose how and when you share these results with your clients, whether as a weblink or in an easy-share PDF.

It’s been really helpful with most of my clients as they generally resonate with the results and the clusters they fit into, and in some cases the quiz has solidified their uni studies/career path when they had been questioning if it was the right choice. For others that are completely unsure, it’s starts that conversation around their soft skills and general interests and qualities.

You share the link
Simply add a client and we'll send them a link on your behalf, so they can take the quiz at a time and place that suits them. You choose when to send them the link.
They take the quiz
It should take them about 5 minutes. We'll also let you know when they've completed the quiz, and you can remind them if you're waiting on their results.
Start the conversation
You can share the results either before or during your session (it's up to you) and then use them however you like as part of your normal practice.
See all your clients on your Dashboard
You’ll be able to see who’s completed the quiz and who’s still pending, send them reminders, and make notes about your sessions all in the one place.
You can also create and manage your Professional Profile, manage your membership, download social media assets to raise your profile, and even learn about the Clusters with free Professional Learning resources.
I'm still finding more ways to use clusters. I see it as a helpful first filter for the students who are struggling with the paradox of career choice we have available in our world today. I’ve got to admit… I am too!
